Platform K encompasses:
- the dance studios: In the dance studios, Platform K offers contemporary dance training for young adults with disabilities, talent, and the ambition to grow as dancers. We train a select group of dancers and support their transition into the professional field through residencies, productions and various artistic projects. From this group, the professional dance company of Platform K emerges. At present, Platform K is based in both Brussels and Ghent.
- productions and co-productions: With the dance company, Platform K creates dance performances in collaboration with professional choreographers, reaching wide audiences in Flanders and abroad: Platform K dancers have performed in Switzerland, South Africa, and Germany, among others. Additionally, Platform K collaborates with other dance companies on co-productions. Explore our past (co-)productions.
- an open dance programme: Platform K is committed to inclusion and interaction on the dance floor. We organise an open dance programme for anyone who wants to move, regardless of age, experience, or (physical) ability. Through Open Fridays, Open Dance Jams, and collaborations with Wisper and Danspunt, we create a safer and more inspiring space for all forms of movement. Discover our open dance programme.
- residencies: Our residency programmes offer dancers and choreographers the time and space to creatively collaborate and explore without the pressure to perform. At the core of these residencies are exchange and experimentation. Every year, Platform K organises two residencies in partnership with CAMPO and De Grote Post.
In addition to dance training, Platform K invests in the broader artistic development of dancers with disabilities. We examine the meaningful impact dancers with disabilities have on contemporary dance environments, and the diverse forms this interaction can take.
